Repairing factory power steering, power brakes on 1959 GMC
Bear with me, my very first post.
I'm looking into repairing factory power steering, power brakes on 1959 GMC. The steering box is loose and leaking but operates fine. The factory pump is 100%, no leaks, lots of pressure. The vacumn booster does not work. Where would I find parts or a service manual to work on these items? Last edited by gregdand; 01-05-2022 at 05:29 PM. Reason: uploading photos |

I believe you'll find the steering system is similar to what was used on Pontiac and Buick. Many parts are still available.
https://www.hometownbuick.com/1958-b...ing-gear-pump/ https://www.ebay.com/p/670916944 The power brake unit is likely to be a Hydravac. Both Midland and Bendix made Hydravac. Midland: Bendix: Rebuilding may be tricky. I'm going to try rebuild a Bendix unit I have here using some web videos and manuals. |
