Re: My Experience with Bench Seat Upholstery Installation
We attempted to tackle this project this weekend but didn't get very far. I was expecting the covers to have the wire rope around the edges and use the hog rings to attach to the frame, but the cover attaches with the clips that you used on the bottom. The bottom cover has built-in pleats and leaves a void at the center so we're going to stuff some foam in there to fill it.
What did you use to attach the back cover to the frame? Hog rings or clips? If you used hog rings, did your cover have the wire rope around the edge? Where did you get the clips for the bottom? I've found them a couple places online but might try find them locally.

Re: My Experience with Bench Seat Upholstery Installation
I used hog rings on the back cover just like the original cover I removed. The original cover had a single piece of wire inside the top horizontal edge only, and this wire had a wavy pattern bent into it. The new cover came with a fibrous plasticky rigid cord inserted in this spot, so I used that instead of the original wire. The side and bottom edges have no wire or cord (same as original). I wrapped the material back underneath the hog ring bars in the seat frame so the hog rings would go through two layers of material.
I bought the 67-68 clips for the bottom cushion from classicparts.com. The part number is 28-900, but I can't find them on their website anymore for some reason. |

Re: My Experience with Bench Seat Upholstery Installation
Fixed post #4 after receiving a PM about it. Replacement bottom side spring came from LMC, not USA 1 Interiors. The shipping on just the spring was actually quite reasonable from LMC ($4). That doesn't happen often these days.
