'78 K5 w/ LS swap - Cruise Control lever??

I know that to a degree, this has absolutely been beat to death, and I've searched - but not finding the answer I'm looking for. I am wrapping up an LS swap (LQ4 w/ 4L65e) into my truck, and I am trying to get the cruise set up. I have the pinouts, wiring diagrams, etc; but what I'm struggling with is the stalk. Getting one from a newer vehicle (i.e. 80's era Astrovan) would be ideal, except the issue is how to attached it to the steering column!!
What came out was a stalk that had a single-button for cruise, but had a screw in the column to attached it to the canceling cam/ innards. The newer stalks have a pin so to speak that lets it snap into something inside the column.

How do I make this work?? I REEEEEALLLLLY don't want to go down the road of adding 2-3 relays to get this working with a Rostra-style lever... Constructive input would be gratefully appreciated!
