This poor old truck has spent it's entire life in the Chihuahuan desert of New Mexico just 20 miles from the border of Mexico. Got it picked up Wednesday afternoon and made the 1,000 mile trip to sunny warm Missouri! Arrived here early Friday morning, safe and sound except for a case of the chills!

Check the coolant quick. They use a lot of pure water out there.

Looks good Rob. You could have just hauled it a little farther north and unloaded it. I think it's a little warmer up here...

I just noticed. So you have all six later 16" wheels, just not 6 tires? Love those 'peep' mirrors. I'm sure you do, too

I always heard the trucks got imported incomplete, without beds. Looks like yours got exported that way too! BTW, what are your plans for this great find?

Sorry. I misread it originally. I thought he was saying it came from Mexico. I guess far southern NM is a warm climate, but the only New Mexico I know gets cold in winter. I sure didn't think I was being edgy. It's called New Mexico for a reason.

The last page in New Mexico magazine is reserved for these occasions. The past couple of weeks it has gotten cold in southern NM as well.

South of ABQ is generally pretty decent during the winter. Rob, looks like you stole one of our excellent specimens! They are getting harder to find but they do definitely still turn up. Cruces, Deming, Roswell etc are great during the winter months. Up here in the great white, errrr… brown north west corner it’s normally cold, definitely 4 seasons in the four corners.

Thanks! I haven't come up with a.plan yet. I've had a few C30s before and would.like to build this one a little different.

Thanks Leon! Yeah I think your right on the weather. It's been crazy here this year, fridgid one day and nice the next day.. and only two small snowfalls this year.

Yeah Tim those mirrors will be coming off soon. I bought this as just a shell, no motor or trans and he just threw some tires on for transport but it's what I've been looking for.

I didn't quite steal it but close to it! This came from Deming, he has a fewore of these trucks sitting around and is going to send me some pics. I know he has a long stepside 68.thst be says is really solid... we'll see.

Funny, but that sure doesn't apply to me. I know my geography and history. I just skimmed over the first post and saw temperature shock, 20 miles from the border (thought south), and Chihuahuan Desert (more in Mexico than NM). I was mostly focused on the truck. WOW! So clean! Been to Santa Rosa once, but mostly to Taos and Santa Fe visiting my two sisters who have lived there since the '80s. My brother-in-law owns KTAO

Nice find! I have just started looking for a C30 in this condition. I imagine it's going to be like find a needle in a haystack.
