Gauge cluster swap?
Having trouble with my gauges and figuring out what to do. The truck is a Frankenstein originally an 81' 6cyl Scottsdale. Now has an 82' cab and interior harness, 84' 350 and engine harness, and the engine is wired for factory gauges and I have the cluster for it from the 84' but the original truck didn't have gauges. Can I swap the green electrical circuit from the old cluster to the 84' cluster and make it work or what? I already swapped the clusters to see what would happen and all the gauges just pegged but the non gauge cluster the lights were on and just shifted for dim to bright. Not sure how much difference there is in the wiring between gauges and lights and the years.

Re: Gauge cluster swap?
6 cyl to 8 cyl doesnt matter-more important is going from lights to gauges. Your engine sensors/switches will be different however. On electric carb applications the choke circuit goes through an oil pressure switch also on some years.

Re: Gauge cluster swap?
Thanks, from what I can tell it's going to be easier to swap the harness because I'm going to be short a few wires. Probably just going to swap the engine harness out for lights and make it easy.

Re: Gauge cluster swap?
Sorry to resurrect an old thread (I have a bad habit of this) - Can I get a better quality version of this doc? Kinda fuzzy when I expand it. I'm about to put a set of Dakotas in, and I could use this as a reference.
