Re: Pondering some theft deterrents…
I found this while I was looking for something else - might work well for an electric option?

Re: Pondering some theft deterrents…
Little simple alarms have become really inexpensive.
I saw one where a guy put a 'Shed Alarm' in his camper on his truck. I put one in my barn. The thing is loud. I tested it and it went off easy with me and yet I haven't had one false alarm from it. (Batteries were included)

Re: Pondering some theft deterrents…
Most people, including me when I purchased the truck had no clue what it was. Or even had a function, granted this was my first good old truck so
My knowledge was very limited. But three On the tree brake applies And lock doors best your going to do. As others have mentioned if they really want it they will get it |

Re: Pondering some theft deterrents…
Ravelco is an option to consider. It is small and disables ability to start the truck, and deters hotwiring. Downside is it’s $600 and, only they can install so it’s not available everywhere (CA and AZ), also It doesn’t prevent someone dragging it onto a flatbed. Ok, the more I type it’s sounding more and more like a crappy idea (haha). Just another option for people on this thread to investigate

Re: Pondering some theft deterrents…
I think the inference is that a lot of people cannot drive a stick shift, so that's the deterrent.

Re: Pondering some theft deterrents…
My dad knew a guy when he worked at the GMAD plant in Van Nuys, who was a real practical joker. He took some wire and stripped and stuffed one end into a plug terminal on the distributor cap. He ran the wire hidden, with a bunch of strands on the front seat. When whoever it was started the car, he was getting plug voltage shocks, and it was worse when he touched the key to turn the engine off. So he sat there for awhile until someone helped him. If that had happened to me and I found the perp, he'd have gotten worse.
