235 questions, or, I'm not in Kansas anymore!

There's been lots of activity under the hood as we stripped parts, pieces, and pack rat midden from every nook and cranny. Not to mention decades of coalesced oil and road grime. This ol' lump sure ain't a small block.

The harmonic balancer, oil pan, and timing cover were pulled. We were pleasantly surprised to find newer steel timing gears and solid feeling rod bearings. (I haven't pulled a cap.)
We'll be replacing the starter, water pump. fuel pump, and a plethora of gaskets.
Some questions, as follows;
Will a small block oil pump primer work on this engine?
Is there a harmonic balancer timing cover tool available to align the timing cover?
Is there a simple test to see if the generator is viable?
Is it worth the risk to tap the front main cap for the timing cover bolt fix?
Any recommendations on a radiator in case this one fails its shop inspection?

I'm sure more questions will be forthcoming as we continue to delve into things.
As always, Thanks in advance for your patience and replies.

Regards,
Desert dog

Well the oil pump is a M-45 type so a small block wont work.
I'm not sure if Patrick's is still in business try to call at 520-836-1117, or Tom Langdon at 586-739-9601 they would know about the tool.
