New purchase

Hello everyone. I am normally hanging out on the 67-72 side but thought I would share a new purchase I made.

1985 GMC K2500 Suburban. I guess this technically should go in the sub category but thought I would share this on here as well.

Re: New purchase

When were the "PA1" Special Wheel Covers first available? Were they always the extra-cost option, or did they replace the dog-dishes at some point?

Re: New purchase

I’ve got a 91 suburban that is 2wd/4L80E 454 truck that has the dog dish factory. So I presume these wheel covers are an option?

I felt the same way when I got my 2nd suburban. Haha. I always have trucks and now all I have are two subs. What happened?

Good looking rig and welcome to the club!

Re: New purchase

Very cool rig. What's the story on it? Is it from OH originally?

Yeah I didn't know I needed a suburban until I acquired one. They probably are the best multipurpose vehicle. I always tell people if I could only have one truck it would be a suburban and I would buy a small trailer to haul big and/or dirty things. Now 2 suburbans, not sure that is necessary haha.

The truck just came from Georgia where it spent it's whole life there. I bought it from the second owner who has had it since 2012. He had the 700R4 rebuilt and a jasper crate engine installed because it was tired and smoked. The truck has 156K miles on it but engine has 4k so I lucked out.

Re: New purchase

That's a great looking rig, very clean. I'm also a member of the didn't mean to buy a Suburban and now I'm glad I have one club. But I only have one, haha.

Re: New purchase

Thought I would share an updated picture. I have been sweating it out in the garage peeling away the oxidation on the paint. The roof is PRETTY BIG on these things.

Re: New purchase

Wow, that really came out great. Phenomenal in fact. I'm guessing it's been repainted with basecoat / clearcoat? The side really shows how reflective it is. And yeah, the rooves are huge. I had to keep moving the ladder around so that I could reach all of it. I remember it taking a good portion of an evening.

It has been resprayed but it’s single stage. That’s what has been the struggle because the paint was severely oxidized on top. You can see my ladder under the truck haha.
