Recommended Electronic Voltage Reducer 12 Volt To 6 Volt
Hello all, decided to do a 12 Volt conversion on the 49 3100. I have the big items for project (12 Volt gen, 12 Volt batt, ballast res.,12 volt coil) but curious about voltage reducers. What reducers did others use or recommend to use? I have a heater, flashers, and want to keep the original gauge cluster. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Recommended Electronic Voltage Reducer 12 Volt To 6 Volt
Speedo, oil pressure and temperature are mechanical and needs no conversion
Gas gauge needs to be addressed, Google it or someone will chime in Amp meter should be bypassed or converted into a volt gauge, I did a gauge conversion write up in my thread Flasher, install a 12v flasher and all light bulbs All switches are good, will draw half the power on 12v Starter motor won't handle extended cranking time, treat it nice and it will last years The only thing left is the heater blower motor, buy a 12v motor

PS: a coil is a coil, the ballast resistor drops 12v to 6v in the run position

Re: Recommended Electronic Voltage Reducer 12 Volt To 6 Volt
There is a style of reducer called a Runtz reducer that is designed for gauges
https://vintageautogarage.com/12-vol...r-made-in-usa/ You can also order from these guys through Amazon if you prefer. https://www.amazon.com/Gauge-Reducer...56275261&psc=1 Most of the places associated with vintage cars and trucks sell them though. One for each gauge but you only have one gauge that needs one.
