Re: sound deadener/heat shield: best bang for your buck, how many square feet?

If you really want to save a buck (cheap A..) I used some Home Depot insulation. I bought double sided tape to keep it stuck down and then laid my carpet over that.

Re: sound deadener/heat shield: best bang for your buck, how many square feet?

Nice use of the search function to revive a old thread. I remember wanting to deal with the heat and sound. I used glass beads mixed with Rust-Oleum. This was a while back i had to email a company and they sent me a bag of "hollow microspheres" looked like tiny tiny salt bb's. Just mixed it up with paint and Japan drier and rolled it on. Did like 5 coats and called it good, i put the carpet over it. Worked really good until i sold it. Wanted to do it on the underside of the cab but never went that far.

I don't think it was highway marking beads but that's what I came up with i looked to see about those beads as my interest was piqued again. I guess a company now makes it called lizard skin but they are expensive.

Beads were really cheap like a gallon ziplock for $10. I don't know how it is 20 years later but it was definitely worth the $20 at least in my mind.
