Driveshaft interchange ??
I have a '67 long bed roller that was a 6 cylinder/pg. The driveshaft was missing when I got it and I have a local guy selling one, but it's from a C20 with 350/4 speed. Will this driveshaft interchange with the 6/ TH350 I'm going to install ? Length is most important, I can change yokes.
Thanks Pic of my "new" original paint work truck... |

Re: Driveshaft interchange ??
The 4 speed shaft is going to be too long for your TH350. Even going to an M20 passenger car 4 speed, I had to cut down my driveshaft from my original SM420 truck 4 speed.

OK thanks, long is better than short. I can cut it down but I can't stretch it...

Re: Driveshaft interchange ??
Make sure to check those U-joint sizes...
C10 rear end is 1310 ujoint, but I'm pretty sure my 4-speed in a c10 was 1350 at the trans. C20 might be 1350 at the rear end. Hopefully someone will chime in here. |

That's what I was thinking too. Seems I used to buy a conversion u-joint for just this issue..Spicer, maybe ?

Re: Driveshaft interchange ??
Yah, the conversion joints are pretty readily available...
You might also need to make sure the replacement driveshaft has the correct carrier bearing, or you might need to carrier bearing from the other truck. Another thing I just thought of, the diff in the C20 is going to be different than the C10 and might mean it has a different length driveshaft in the rear. |
