ACC carpet too big?
So I've been working on the interior of my 72 GMC.
I have the mass backed carpet kit from ACC and when I went to put it in it seems way too big. There is about 2 " of bubble in the hump area. I don't think that there is any way this is going to look good once it is installed. Ideas / suggestions appreciated. |

Re: ACC carpet too big?
The carpet says it’s for a turbo 400 and low tunnel. From what I understand the 400 has a high hump . Looks like your truck is a low hump
Edit : the ACC site has two options for transmission auto 3spd and the 400 . Not sure what that means as the 400 was a 3spd too. But they do list the two option .

Re: ACC carpet too big?
Looks like they sent high hump carpet in a box labeled low hump. My 69 C20 with a 350 and TH400 has a low hump and the carpet fits great.

Re: ACC carpet too big?
Big block auto or manual trans or 4wd were the triggers for high hump.

Re: ACC carpet too big?
I ordered one for an in tank cab. they sent me one for no tank in cab. I just stuck the extra up the front of the tank for now, as I plan to remove it later. seems they are good at getting orders slightly wrong. Hopefully its easy to get them to swap it for your.

Re: ACC carpet too big?
This thread comes up every year, ordering from Rock Auto exacerbates the problem.
For anyone else reading along, the ACC carpets generally fit just ok. If you get one that seems off, that's normal. Make sure to lay it flat in the sun before you start and if you want it perfect, get some upholstery cement, jute pad, and get creative. |
