What years were the ball bearing ash trays? Was going through some parts and ran across these.

There are actually 3 different slides. Metal to Metal/Plastic to Metal/and ball bearings. I don't remember the year breakdown though.

Pretty sure the '67 is metal to metal slide and the bracket is welded to the dash, so the others won't interchange with it.

'67 ashtrays have a thinner face, metal to metal, with straight tracks

68-70s have the ball bearings, curved tracks

71/72 nylon to metal, less curved

My '68 C/10 Stepside was part of a fleet order. I once had the Build Sheet [long lost now] and it specified ''DeLux Ash Tray''. E.G. Ball-bearings.
[But no Radio or AC]

Ashtray? Who needs an ashtray?

Few car manufacturers have provided them for the last ten years. Ford offers them as a optional accessory and a couple of European cars offer them as a fairly costly option.

I still see people smoking in cars. My old truck has AC. When I see brand new cars with a window down, it catches me eye. Sure enough, an arm comes out to flick ashes and then a butt goes dancing across the road.

Every year we have more fires in CA, and fewer and fewer cars with ashtrays.

Came out of the wrecking yard, out of some kind of Toyotle. I had grabbed 3 of that style to see if I could get one of them to fit.
Japanese cars have to be good for something. ggg

Weirder still: The SPID specified an L25 292 L6, SM465, WC Jr mirrors, and 7.00x17.5 tires.

I saw a YouTube video where they crushed a Prius under a surplus British Chieftan tank. It was good for entertainment.

I dont have any use for them so I think I might do a little surgery and see if I can come up with anything. I always used my ashtrays for change but it was such a hassle to get anything out if I needed a quarter or something. Pull the whole thing out, dump and go. Need to figure out how to hide and add one of these haha.

I see keeping change in the ashtray as very convenient. There is even an easy way provided to slide it out to retrieve the change. I do the same in my '95 Suburban. I always keep a Bic lighter and a paint can/bottle opener in them as well. Both come in handy for various things.
