Duntvo 30 30 cam
Hello

Schneider has a grind they call a 295H, could be theirs. Likely the 295 is duration at the seat. H for Hydraulic. I'd suspect the 8 might be 108° lobe separation, but I'm talking out of my bum.

I thought so too. But this is a GM camshaft 30 30 Duntvo number on the camshaft is GM # 3736098 I don’t think GM made a Duntvo camshaft for hydraulic lifters. I’m not 100% sure. If they did I never seen one. Pete |

Duntov 30-30 is nick-named that because that was the valve lash setting, iirc. That would solid lifters, there was never a hydraulic 30-30 cam.

Yeah , that is not a Duntov 30/30 with a marking like that. Like others said, mechanical lifters and big valve lash. Rumpty Tumpty too but will idle a lot better than that 295 cam on a 108 separation 2 degrees advanced so set to 110 degree intake lobe centerline
. That Cam will idle at 1500rpm to stay running, all wrong for a truck and street vehicle.

Well....
My '77 C10 350 has a flat tappet, 296° seat duration, 108°LSA camshaft that idles (choppy) in drive at 650rpm, at 8inHg, and pulls in 10mpg. It's been my daily driver for nine years, until gas here started pushing $10/gallon. It can be very driveable, if you know how to make it work..... Totally not a truck cam, though.

Thanks for the response. This is going into the engine M building for my 1963 Corvette. I have a 327 bored over 60. I have 1963 Corvette X fuelie head with the big valves. Also have a Muncie M 21 4 spd. I don’t plan on driving everyday. Just being a little more than stock drive train. This is a nos cam. I was wondering if there had been work done on this cam. Sounds like there might have been. |

I'd be cautious of using an unknown flat tappet cam in a new build. Maybe a better plan would be finding a new copy of the GM 30-30 cam.

Agree 100%. Using a cam of unknown background just seems like one is asking for trouble/failure.

Look into a roller cam these days. Unless you plan to run amsoil or zddp additive all the time.
I will never run a flat tappet again due to concerns. Plus after about 20 oil changes you can pay for a roller with the savings. |

I put the Duntvo cam in my 327. Holy Shiet this thing has a lot of top end. High rpm’s pulls very hard and happy at 7 thousand to 8 thousand rpm shifts. This reminds me of my friends 1971 Hemi Cuda he built in the 90’s. I got to drive it once and that the only other car that scared the shiet out of me. Cuda had what seemed unlimited top end. The Vette has factory drum brakes and no power nothing. I have mixed emotions of excitement and pure terror. Maybe too much cam for me at my age. Pete |
