Help led wiring
I bought a set of united pacific led tail light, they look great and all but come with ZERO instructions, any ideal how these wire?
First is the 16 inch wire harness it came with. 2 and 3 the terminal that connects to housing. 4th connection on housing. The terminal fits the housing but how do the wires connect to the terminal? |

Re: Help led wiring
part number?
Was the housing part of the light setup or just the white thing with the pigtail?

do the wires push into the holes in the white thing then the rubber boot goes over the top of white thing? is there a separate ground wire?

Re: Help led wiring
The ground connection would be provided from the outside connection body(brass looking material on the back of the light housing). Then I bet that if it is LED, proper polarity has to be noted. The wire connectons will slide into the white plastic housing and snapping into place, but making sure that proper placement is maintained. I think one wire is park+, and the other is brake+.

Re: Help led wiring
The wire do push into the hole one the white terminal, but are not snug and pull out easily. There are only the 2 wires shown no separate ground.

Re: Help led wiring
these ground through the housing as fauxgt says. i use a star washer on one of the mounting stud nuts and strip the paint from the bracket. one terminal is stop and one is park, I always use a battery and a piece of wire to identify which
Quote:
it does not click. I have used these several times and it works just as leegreen says, you stick the wires in and put the boot over it. it stays, even though it can be pulled out. use clear silicone to set the boot in place and at the end of the boot where the wires poke through. it should hold even better, i have never had one come loose though. a benefits is, if you dont use a battery to determine which is which like i said above, and you get it wrong, you can just flip them.

Re: Help led wiring
is the lower pic in post 1 the front side of the light or the rear side? looks like the rear since it appears to be the underside of a cup shaped unit. anyway, if there is a lens that fits on over those 2 sruds I would install a nice gasket under the lens. do you have a pic showing the complete unit when it is together?

Re: Help led wiring
Cool, the only suggestion is make sure that you have the correct flasher for the Led lights. When you don't have regular lights to trigger the flasher you have to have a special flasher.

Re: Help led wiring
It’s got a brand new painless wiring harness with new flashers, do you think those are led compatible?

Re: Help led wiring
Probably not. They have to be LED specific. Yes, I know as I went through this as well. Make sure your have GOOD ground leads too. Here is the LED flasher relay I used, https://www.amazon.com/American-Auto.../dp/B08768QJV6 I needed 2 since the flashers are the turn signals each had their own relay.

Re: Help led wiring
Thermal vs digital flasher. LED does not draw enough current to heat the resistance wire in thermal flasher
at least some of the painless installation instructions specifically tell you that if you use LEDs you need to get a different flasher. They sell one |
