Re: '59 Electric wiper motor switch

its a bit hard to see in the pics, even zoomed in, but possibly the speed resistors are build in to the motor. if you could get some better pics of that area maybe we could figure it out as a group.

Re: '59 Electric wiper motor switch

Orrieg's 59 and my 58 have stock electric wipers with the cable operator switch. Not sure if you have an early attempt or later model motor. Cuz your motor looks nothing like the one in my 58.
Fwiw, I just drove 16 hours in the rain with a fresh coat of rain-x on my 09 GMC and never used the wipers. As mentioned in my post I don't have wiper arms on my 58, but I do have a bottle of rained in the glove box 👍

Re: '59 Electric wiper motor switch

http://www.persh.org/Pickup/Wiper-washer.htm

according to that grounding both wires = slow
grounding one of them only = high

To me that implies two taps in the field windings and no resistor.
one thing is pretty clear, 1959 was an interesting year for wiper options.

I going to go out on a limb and say that 1959 speed resistors would be too large for that switch and probably be mounted external to the motor housing as well.
