96 chevy truck rearend

Hello
ive got a 96 chevy truck rearend given to me
the bad needs new gears, so basically needs rebuilt
the good, its a 373 , disc brakes
i know the yoke will probably need a conversion or an odd u joint to work or different yoke on my 700r4 transmission

anyone tried this or just use my drum stock rearend. or will the disc brake components swap over

Thanks

Re: 96 chevy truck rearend

I have no clue on what all is needed to use a 96 axle in the older trucks.

For the sake of conversation, how's the gears on your stock rear end? If those are still good and you don't need to do anything to it except add disc brakes, it might be more cost effective to used the stock diff instead of swapping to the 96.

I doubt the 96 parts swap to the older axle, but Captainfab does make some brackets to add discs to a stock rear end.
