VIN tag

I’m about to purchase a 64 GMC and this is the only tag I could find. I looked on the frame rail and didn’t see anything. This is located on the drivers side vertical door pillar. Incase the picture doesn’t load, this is whats on the tag.
DD
1 1001 P
F8960A
Is this the vin tag? Thanks for any input.

Re: VIN tag

Appears to be the VIN tag. Not sure of the DD models, but most if not all GMC's did not have the VIN on the frame rail.

It has 6 lug axles. Maybe a heavy duty package or a camper package?

Re: VIN tag

Link to VIN decoding.

GMC's did not have the VIN on the frame.

Not sure what the DD means.

Re: VIN tag

the VIN = 64-66 1/2 ton, short wheelbase, straight 6, <6K gvwr, mfgr'ed in Pontiac MI. 8960 is the assembly line #. DD is for Delivery Date (to the dealer? the customer? who knows), seldom, if ever, stamped with a date after it though, but sometimes. More prevalent in cars I believe. Most trucks of this era have the DD on the tag, means nothing by itself.

Welcome to the board!

Re: VIN tag

How do you re-affix a vin tag that was removed for painting? Appears to have been spot welded in.
