Re: Long to short bed driveshaft
Yes, go with a one piece.
I put a one-piece on my shortened 69 C10.

Re: Long to short bed driveshaft
Yes. One piece is sufficient.

Re: Long to short bed driveshaft
One piece is good but check trailing arm cross member opening clearance if you are lowering the truck.

Re: Long to short bed driveshaft
For those that have shortened their trucks, what length did your driveshaft end up being?
I shortened mine and took some measurements for the driveshaft and came up with 58". Does that sound close?

Re: Long to short bed driveshaft
Close only counts with horseshoes and hand grenades , Most driveline shops will have a website with measuring directions , Verify with the shop you use that the measurement is correct before having it built . I had a new driveshaft built for my 67 factory shortbed V8 4 speed and it measured 59 1/2" center to center .Cost was about $300.00 with the yoke I provided and them using Spicer u joints

Re: Long to short bed driveshaft
I had a driveline that was hanging around here shortened.
Described at the driveline shop as a cut and weld. A re-balance and I was good. If you are lowering your truck you will have to remove the bracket for the driveline bearing center hanger. I would remove it either way just to be safe. Cheers |
