Old Blue Part II - Got her back, getting to work!
So over the past few weeks, I've been trying locate the truck that my son and I built while he was in high school. Click here for that story.
Found it, bought it back and hauled it home. The previous owner did 'his thing' while he owned her, not sure about the logic behind some if it but now that she's back with me, I need to get her back to where she was. I am going to use this thread and update it to document the work I'll do to get her back to a respectable level. Here are the plans: Correct all cosmetic & mechanical issues. So far, this is what I've found. -Re-Paint all interior pieces that are jacked up. -New Tank Strap -Replace bumper light sockets -Re-Install courtesy/dome light harness -Repair all the AC Vents -Replace wiper arms/blades -Correct dumbo ear mirror slop -Find out why AC doesn't blow air -All Fluids changed, leaks traced and gaskets replaced New Plan: Upgraded stereo system Rear Disks Upgrade front disks to match Adjustable brake proportion valve Prep this for install this summer. Guess I will need to change stuff over to blue.

Popped the hood and it was pretty grimy so I got to cleaning. Sorry, no before pics but trust me, it had been neglected IMO.
I have the jack and hold down but at some point, the passenger side hardware was discarded.. Now she is a little better.

I had installed a headlight buzzer from a new truck but that's gone so hunted one down and now it works like it's supposed to.

Re: Old Blue Part II - Got her back, getting to work!
Been working on the bumper driving/turn lights. The bulbs don't seem to fit well in thesockets so replaced them with new sockets and attached them to a disconnect plug. New mounting screws and then a little work on the shop itself. Added a air hose disconnect to my 3/4 rapid air line system.

Got my wiper arms painted and cleared.
Need to paint my tag mount bracket as well. Noticed these inner fender panels. Wonder if they are available aftermarket??

Re: Old Blue Part II - Got her back, getting to work!
New door panels are not in the budget and even if they were, it’s a crap shoot as to whether you get a good fit or not so color change the old ones it is.
Prep-work is everything. Wash with simple green. Wipe down with glass cleaner. Then SEM 38353 and scrub with gray pad. Then SEM 39863 And finally SEM 15243 Satin Black. After all the cleaning is done and before the adhesion promoter is applied, the door panels will have a white, aged look to them. I'm told that's the look you want and how you know you've gotten all the oils, grease, dirt off the panel. Satin Black laid down very nice. More pics today of final product.
