Re: Power steering, power disk brakes.
Not sure what you're waiting for 72c20CustomCamper gave a concise clear answer. He gets it.
The only thing I'll add is most of my parking lot work is done with the heel of my hand, I don't even wrap my fingers around the wheel. How anyone can say that is difficult steering I can't comprehend.

Re: Power steering, power disk brakes.
Oddly enough I feel that my C20 steers easier than my C10. Why that would be I don't know. Tread design maybe.

Re: Power steering, power disk brakes.
When all my vehicles had manual steering, I loved it and preferred it as many have mentioned. Once I started having vehicles with power steering and drove them pretty much for 20 years, I got use to it. When I went back to my old 70 with manual, it wasn't bad till I added 275/60 radials all the way around. Still not a big issue till I did a lot of in town driving during a cruise event (300 miles over 3 days). Boy did I feel it in my arms (felt like my wife beat me with a bat ). So I can see if you're use to power steering, having it on the old truck is good. If you are use to manual, keeping it would be the way to go for me.

Re: Power steering, power disk brakes.
Well I have power steering and I love it on my C20. However, I need to convert the brakes to power. I only had one vehicle with drum brakes and I was much younger then. I'm a cheap scape and just want to add the brake booster to my drum brakes so that I don't have to get a cramp in my leg pushing on that brake pedal.

Re: Power steering, power disk brakes.
To each his own. For me it's full on resto-mod all the way (well, resto-mod with 25 year old technology). Both of my classics have PS, PDB, LS swaps, overdrive automatics, A/C, heck they both even have cruise control.
They are a little nostalgic to drive but they are a lot more a pleasure to drive. I think I put 2000 miles on my 2016 truck last year and about 4000 miles on my classics. Drive 'em and don't break a sweat. |

Re: Power steering, power disk brakes.
I’ve already put 2200 miles on my 68 this year . I’m liking it way to much I drove my 85 k20 the other day and I felt like I was driving my new truck AC PS PDB . I average about 5k on it and 3 on my 72 per year

Re: Power steering, power disk brakes.
I've owned my truck with power steering for 25 years and I may have added fluid once. That's all the attention it has ever required.

Re: Power steering, power disk brakes.
My father bought this shiny new K/5 while I was in Viet Nam in 1970.. 307, auto, no PS or PB...
Guess what was my first project when I got home! He passed in '79 and I kept it until about '87... Of course I wish I still had it!!! |
