Re: Does anyone have an original paint Blazer or Jimmy with painted door latches?

Great! Thanks for posting. The latter does move the needle back - really helpful.

It's funny how when you start looking for something, you find it.

Again, great observation Pete. Still so much to learn about these trucks.

Early (August '71 or earlier) 72 St. Louis Blazer. Passenger side seems to show it was painted....Looks like the driver side could have been swapped based on the screws missing paint too.

Re: Does anyone have an original paint Blazer or Jimmy with painted door latches?

Not sure this helps, but the serial number on this one is intriguing. This one on eBay was 514 red. The seller was nice enough to send me some pics. It appears the driver side latch might have some red paint back in towards the door, similar to what can also be seen in post 40.

Not conclusive, but might add a little value to suggest they were painting the latches on day 1 of the 72 model year... Or is that a stretch?

Sidenote: why is the vin 142S and not 182S?

Thanks for keeping the thread alive and raising cases. Fun to chase this down.

The 4 is odd as that denotes a pickup model. Model is correctly called out as 8 in the body of the SPID. The wheel base number font also differs from that used for the VIN - note the 1 and 4 differ in terms of font. Looks like a fleet ordered Blazer? Error at time of assembly as regards the SPID?

If you take the time to read through the entire post I believe you’ll learn otherwise. Agree, came as a total surprise.

Here's another 72 Atlanta truck that claims and appears to be original paint.

Re: Does anyone have an original paint Blazer or Jimmy with painted door latches?

Lol - that’s an odd location for the blue door decal. Would be great to see more Atlanta examples. Maybe I should post a link to this thread on the pickup side.

Here’s another original paint St Louis survivor example. It’s a 72 Cheyenne C10 lwb with 76k miles.
