Exhaust heat shield, driver side crossmember

What do folks do with the heat shield? Clean it up and reinstall? Leave it off? Once it's bolted on, I don't think it can be removed without lifting the cab off the frame, so it's a long-term decision.

If there is still room put it back on. What's the worst it could do, keep your feet cooler?
