KS Frame Side Clutch Bracket

Frame side clutch bracket, pulled from a '71, will fit 67-72. A little rough but still usable. $10 plus shipping, money order, do not have Paypal.

Also have two clutch forks, will fit from 60-72, listed in 60-66 section. $10 each plus ship.

No worries, thank you for the reply. It’s been surprisingly difficult to track one of these down even though they were a common part. It also seems like the repop that 4 speed Conversions was offering isn’t gonna be back in stock anymore. Guess it’s time to try making one.

Yeah, it sometimes is surprising how the vey common parts seem to be hard to obtain when one needs such. You might possibly try looking on the dreaded eBay. Not sure but I "think" there is a difference between the IL6 and the V8 frame brackets. Never parted a 67-72 with an IL6 and not sure about there being a difference. Perhaps posting such a question in the 67-72 message section would get the information needed. Good luck in your search.

The I6 and V8 brackets are indeed different. The I6 bracket has an indentation in it. Also, the L shaped notch where the bellcrank attaches is facing the other direction because the I6 bracket mounts to the frame with the vertical portion toward the engine. The V8 bracket faces away from the engine. Here's a photo of an I6 bracket. By they way, in '67 they used the I6 bracket, bellcrank and pushrod for V8s as well.

Looks like just under 4" rivet/rivet.
Goingnt to put in some vinegar for a couple days..post another pic afterward.
It cleaned up mill scale on clean bare mild steel shockingly well.

PJ it seems like I learn about another ‘67 nuance every time I buy a part! My truck was a factory I6 manual and the drivetrain was gone by the time I got it along with any and all of the brackets and linkage I’m sourcing to put it back together.

She’s got a 70’s motorhome 454 and a Muncie m21 in her now, so I suppose that the v8 68+ bracket wouldn’t be the worst sin that I’ve committed putting her back on the road. I believe all the rest of the linkage I’ve picked up matches that bracket and I’ll probably still have to get creative with the block side pivot mounting since those factory mounts are unobtainium. I’ve searched the forums here and found a couple solutions that guys have made that look like they’ll fit the bill to get the ball in the right spot.

You guys are the best, always helping a fella learn more about these trucks to keep them going for another few decades

I just went through the painful process of obtaining all of the mechanical clutch pedal linkage components for my truck. I started out with a mixture of '67 and '68-up components without realizing there were compatibility issues between them. I ended up with all '68-up components. I prefer these components because the "dog leg" pedal push rod gives more clearance for the rear header pipe. Here's a thread I started when I was trying to figure out what was going on.

PJ, I just read that whole thread right now, your struggle is exactly what I’m going through. Seems like the right choice for me to go with all 68+ components and the bracket that Paul posted to clear the BBC headers. From the look of it I’ll have just enough room to do it.

Someone at GM design must have just had a pile of components and mix/matched them like legos when they were deciding what parts would go on which trucks!

This was posted somewhere here, I remember making a plate to span the hole pattern on the block. Bolting bracket with pivot to it, up or down, this helps with alignment, bigger plate etc.

Did you end up using this bellcrank with the v8 frame bracket? I can see where the v8 bellcrank would have an advantage for header clearance, but mine aren’t really in the way (hooker super comps if I remember right), but the 6 cylinder bellcrank would give me more space so I wouldn’t have to make the engine side bracket fit really tightly to the engine block.

Looks like I moved the frame mount out to the edge to gain some room for the bell crank, not sure what I did on the block to mount the ball. You are going to have to modify your mount to fit the parts you have.

You mounted your frame bracket backwards from stock for a 68-72 SBC.

Any combination is fair game if it creates working linkage that doesn’t bind! Especially if it’s some combination of stock or at least GM parts. I’ve got piles of things from over the years it’s just a matter of getting a few key pieces in place and using those to dictate where the remainder land. NotSolo and PJ thank you for the pics, they’ll help me when I start trying to place these on the truck. I wish right now that the driver side fender was still off the truck!

I considered hydraulic, but I’m just not keen on it if I can keep a rod style linkage. I haven’t had the best luck with hydraulic in the past so I guess it’s a combination of being gun shy and just preferring the rod linkage
