1988 R30 intake manifold
All,
I have a 1988 R30 7.4L TBI. Thinking about installing and Edelbrock performer 454 TBI intake manifold 3764. Just curious if anyone else has tackled this, if so, what issues you had, and if the accessory brackets fit, IE, cruise, etc….. https://www.edelbrock.com/performer-...hevy-3764.html |

Re: 1988 R30 intake manifold
Big issue I had with this on my longhorn is getting everything to fit behind the throttle body. When I converted to TBI, I used the large cap distributor. so with that being said it gets really congested back there with fuel lines, brackets and the heater hoses. I ended up eliminating the water port surrounding the the throttle bores and plugging them off. I think it is a poor design by Edelbrock by not taking a little more time and thought with the casting.

Good info. That is the only drawback on “aftermarket” parts. Us being gearheads and adding things to improve performance and efficiency is what’s it’s all about, and I appreciate your input

I put one of those on a 1990 almost 20 years ago. Another option is the 1991-1995 cast iron intake, it is basically the same design as the Edelbrock, but a wee bit heavier, and usually easier on the wallet if you fine one!

Re: 1988 R30 intake manifold
I have one on my factory '89 TBI'd 461. No issues that I recall other than tweaking the coil bracket.
