Those of you with relocated tanks.. What to do about the stock tank?
I have a Boyds EFI tank under the bed, that I installed when I did my LS swap.
The thing is, my paint is still in decent shape and I dont want to weld in a cover for the hole that the tank would leave. So, for years I've just left the empty stock tank in the cab. I'd like to remove it for more room and to add a subwoofer back there. I was envisioning cutting the filler off from the tank itself, and then securing it to the cab. The gas cap is lockable, so I'd just toss (or hide) that key so someone doesnt try to fill up there by accident. Anyone have any pics, or tried something like this?

I put in a new rubber grommet, and just glued the gas cap to the rubber. It looks really close and everybody seems to think the gas tank is still in the cab.

PJ's solution looks great. I replaced my gasket and ran a screw into my cap and some safety wire using a piece of angle brace in the cab, but my cap is pulled too far in. Oh well, it's sealed well.

The cheapest solution is what you mentioned. Did that with my truck when put tank to the back. I've had few people when gassing up, fill is now back corner on drivers side of box, ask me what the filler on the cab is for. I put a 6 x 9 in each corner of the cab where tank was as well.

I would never remove the seat tank because it is part of the structural strength of the back of cab. You might even get a lot of road vibration with it removed as it sort of turns into a huge speaker diaphragm.
