What bumper did my 1966 C10 come with?

Hello,
My 66 C10 came with many loose parts from PO. This bumper appears to be correct overall width, but dont see similar examples online; no step/license plate area. The mounting brackets appear to originally be welded about 34in apart, but someone has since widened to about 43in.
Any thoughts on what this is?
Thank you

Looks like an old Barden style bumper. These were dealer installed when they were delivered from the factory. Rear bumpers were an option, many trucks that left the factory never had one installed.

The bumper pictured above is likely the original that came with your truck. Pretty rudimentary in its construction, but looks period correct. My 66 has a bumper just like it.

Thank you murdoc, I'm working on cleaning it up and adjusting the mounting brackets.

No problem!

I have seen these on our year trucks, as well as the 67-72, and the square bodies too. It may have originally been on a different generation truck back in the day, or even from a dodge or ford.

I like the look of those bumpers, very basic, yet rugged and practical. I have used my bumper jack on that style bumper many times when off road. They are sturdy, and easy to use with a Hi-Lift jack. Maybe not safe enough for crawling under, but great for changing a tire real quick.

Hope it works out well for you!

Mine has one of those too except that the corners have a shorter radius. I can be hooked up to something and spin the tires on pavement and it stays firmly attached.
That 2" square receptacle was probably added later.

Thank you... yes, I agree, it's very HD. The receiver had like a 5ft pipe attached, that must have been welded it a frame member as well. I've removed both from bumper now, and straightened the main body. I plan on cutting off the vertical diamond plate section, and welding new one on... too many holes on this one. Ty 👍
