Hanging brake conversion pics - 59 GMC 100
I know others have made this conversion but I am in process and do have some pics. CPP has the parking brake mount on theirs but mine did not so I reused the original bracket. This put it back to the near same position. Just reference pics. I will run a 7" booster.

Looks good Dennis. Still using the original rod for the e-brake? I have seen where a cable has been hooked to the original lever which looks pretty trick.

Yep, was no issue. I am awaiting the booster. I am already running dis/drum so I will transfer all to the top.

I've` seen a few builds that have a modern hand brake setup on the floor next to the drivers exit. you pull it up like normal/ if it stays adjusted it works great otherwise it is a little hard to enter or exit with the handle sticking up.
on the stock handbrake, where there is a will there is a way. nice job DennisBrooks |

Thanks, dsraven, I believe I could have gone with an 8 inch booster instead of a dual 7, maybe later but as you know the disc on the front make the difference by themselves. Any master cylinder under the floor is worrisome to me. I like puzzles as you can verify from my posts. I like simple, structurally safe/functional and not noticeable. Also, I like to fabricate. It is great on these forums to see what else has been tried.
My post in Alternate Tinkering was a head scratcher. I had the lift up and down and in an out of car a hundred times. Next 55 Ford will be easier however --- if ever---- haha.

i also like to invent and fab stuff and like a clean, simple build, but clean can be complicated as long as it isn't stuff hanging everytwhere.
by using the larger booster you will likely have better brakes. yes, the small boosters work well, they say, but less I'm kinda old school so a larger booster isn't an eyesore to me anyway. if you upgraded I would say go hydroboost. they have a better pedal feel over the vacuum systems, if you ask me. just my 2 cents |

I am very familiar with hydro boost as I fabbed my 67 402 probably 12 years ago using an 80-caprice diesel booster. And yes they work great. I just put a 99 2500 booster on my friends 66 502/502. If I run across a good deal at the Chillicothe or Springfield Ohio swap meets this spring I may go that way. Or just take the urge to change it that way. Yea it would clean things up a bit -- good 2 cents.
