Then the bed ribs need a thin(1/16 to 1/8 inch) rubber strip where it touches the tank. The top washer and adding 1 below will have the top of the bolt mounted Ridged. Then the rubber in-between the tank and bed will keep things from shifting and loosening.

I had some retaining nuts machined locally. This is the new retaining nut and one of my original bolts. Also, one of my original tank.

https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...=834742&page=2 He did a good job and was easy to work with. He made some retaining nuts for others on this forum as well. He created a template from one of my good originals and likely still has that.

Not to raid your post- but how many gallons are these tanks? I plan on building something similar for my diesel conversion for both sides of the truck
