Source for Glove Box Light Terminal? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I've ordered an old style glove box light switch, but it isn't coming with the wiring. I've found that there is a special little terminal required to connect the power wire to it. I've only found one place that sells the terminal, along with a short piece of wire, but they want $17 for it which seems excessive to me. Does anyone know where I can buy just the crimp terminal? I'm looking for the exact style shown in the second photo.

I'm no expert, but it looks to me like your schematic calls for a female Packard connector, which you can buy a bunch of for less than $17.

I'm not sure whether a modern standard 1/4" female connector could substitute for it, but they fit fine in the fuse box and on any aftermarket lamp terminal I've bought so far. with the exception of the pigtail connectors for the turn lights etc, I've yet to have to go beyond the selection of connectors I got at Harbor Freight for just a few bucks. You'll need a crimper/stripper tool to make these connections.

If you have a crimper or solder iron and want to try the standard connector on your ground terminal, I'll drop a couple in the mail for you, they are essentially infinitely cheap.

Thanks for the suggestions. I should have specified that I'm looking for a source for the original stock style terminal.

Well now that I read your post more carefully I realize that your second picture is not a pic of the item you have, but rather the one you need! I foolishly assumed you had the item in pic two, and were looking for the connector on the schematic in 3 that you didn't have a picture of. I don't know what that is called or where to buy it, although I wonder if what is sold these days as a male Packard connector would fit the post?

Based on the wording of that instruction sheet I posted, I believe the special terminal is designed to click into a cavity inside the switch body that is designed specifically to accept it. I don't have the switch in my possession yet, but I will take a closer look when I receive it.

Sorry I misunderstood your question. I would also hate to pay $17 for a piece of wire crimped to that 3-cent terminal

I'll follow along with interest, as a novice with these trucks I've been struggling to learn what to call the various terminals I've been trying to find for the parts my truck needs. It's hard to find a part when I don't know what to call it!

I did a reverse Google image search and found this. Seems a little spendy, but it's sold as "made in the USA." Still don't know what to call it!
