You can find NOS ones on eBay. The cost seems to be between $175 and $400. Lots of them are labeled NOS but are "new old stock" from aftermarket vendors.
I think the NOS usage in this manner is bad advertising. I had mine rebuilt but an individual who specializes in this service. Did an amazing job and ran them at temperature to confirm everything is correct. I have had zero issues with his rebuilt regulators. I wasn't able to find the vendor quickly but will look it up if anyone is interested. The Delco regulators are also date-coded if that is important to you. The date is why I had mine rebuilt. my 70 GMC has an external vr. a friend gave me a nos 68 Chevy vr and it was over charging. if you take them apart. there is a spring that can be adjusted or bend the locaters for the spring. worked for me. BROWN 70

I heard an anecdote, that a Chinese factory was detailed to copy a part for replacement. They had a defective unit for their model. Ergo they produced perfect copies of defective parts...
