Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Finished up a couple of 72 bedsides for a fellow. I cut them down to short ones for him. He has done a nice job on the rest of it and his bed was way too far gone. But since you cannot find short beds, you do what you got to do.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

My wife and I have had separate finances since we met, I was self employed and we didn't want money from her accounts to be attached, if anything were to happen to my business. as an owner/operator we were always concerned about an accident involving a semi and having personal injuries lawyers trying to make claims beyond my incorporation status, which I was informed after I was sued for a crash that clearly wasn't my fault, is possible.
Also, once she was fully aware of how fast I can spend money, she needs to safeguard our future...

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

The worst time ever to run out of propane on the bbq grille is in the middle of grilling some steaks! We have 5 propane bottles and all 5 are empty. Those things last for years and I have used them up and moved them aside until now I ran completely out. Fixing to thin them out.
A quick trip to the store to exchange 1 tank and I was back in bidnezz.
17# tank refilled here is $24.59 if anyone was wondering.

You got that right.
That is a Sinking feeling.

I have several tanks also.
I keep the full ones in one spot and the empty go in another.

About the only 2 things I purchase from my local TSC is hardware (Nuts and Bolts) and Propane.

I take them all down there about once a year.

If one of them gets noticed being (Out of date) on the tank,
I take it to the Dollar Gen and do an exchange and get the newest tank they have.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Yeah, we have half a dozen propane tanks around here as well. And have run out in the middle of grilling steaks, as well. I last paid about $90 refill a bunch of tanks recently. Don't remember how many. This is a good reminder to check the levels. It's grilling season. I bought lamb loin chops today at CostCo. Guess what's for dinner?

Getter-Done, I do the same thing, but at a different store.

Wow . 24 for a propane refill . We have a local supply place that supplies most of the refill stations here . He does a 20# tank for $10 bucks . Been going to him for years .

Indeed! IIRC, I'm paying over $15 for a 5 gallon tank at the best price in town. The lamb chops were great.
Our new dog got to find out about the Blooood Plaaate! I put the platter down after cutting up (and removing) the meat, and there will be blood and bits of meat and gristle. They love it.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Yeah, at one time you had to go to an LP gas store to get refills. Now days, everybody seems to have them. Convenience stores, grocery stores, TLC, Ace Hardware. We've had a couple of old campers and bbq grills I've scrapped out and ended up with LP tanks left over. I have finally used them all up. How do you dispose of small LP tanks? Scrap haulers sure don't want them.

If you know any of the Employees at Dollar G , TSC or Ace Hardware you can ask to leave them there.
The company that comes around will take them back and Refurbish the tank with a new valve and certification.

This is how I got several of my extra spare tanks.

Someone just left their Expired tank there at TSC.

The guy I know let me have them.

I took them to DG and exchanged them for an Updated tank.
Because they have the cheapest exchange around here.

Then I have an updated tank next trip to TSC .
Because they are the cheapest/most convenient refiller around here.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

well this isn't working on my truck but it wasn't today, more like all winter.i bought a new project, selling my 67 Impala wagon that i'd had since 1999,to pay for it.a badly cut up 1932 Ford 2 door sedan.i looked at once and walked away but then since i'm a sucker for punishment, went back to look again and it followed me home?i've been all winter collecting parts since i didn't start with much more than the body and weeks and weeks making and installing new quarter panels and wheel wells.i'm just about done on the quarter panels, making the pass side rear corner now, welding it in today, then a couple of poorly installed tail light mounting plates on the back of the body to repair, then some rotten wood to replace, then we'll get onto building the motor and putting the frame together and building a rad.transmission is at the shop now and ready.the man who painted my 72 truck is painting this car when the time comes,i'm hoping for black so it'll have to be good.time will tell.

Here's some inspiration for you. This is my buddies 33 Chevy that was in like condition of yours, other than the body he just about made every part on this thing fenders, hood, etc.

He took Lazzy's metal shaping class which was a tremendous learning experience for him, not to mention the pride of making/modifying all the parts. https://www.lazzemetalshaping.com/

Enjoy the build!! And keep us posted.

thank you sir,i think you may have mentioned my old truck in the past?i appreciate it.that's a good looking Chevy.i have watched a bunch of Lazzy's video's on Youtube University.he's probably forgotten more than i'll ever know.i'm sure it would be a huge help and the scrap metal pile wouldn't be 10 feet tall if i could take a course like his.sadly there's none close by but nothing an airplane won't fix?i built another 32 35 or 40 years ago,it was a complete car that i drove home but not any better, maybe worse in places than this one.i drove it to the NSRA Southern Nationals in Knoxville,TN,brought home the long distance award,in 1987.that event is no longer there i don't think but there's a million more.we'll get this one done and go see if we can haul home another long distance.here's my first 32 from years ago.i'll keep you posted for sure.take care.Greg

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I love 32s as well. A good friend of mine has built several sedans. He has one about 80% complete now. He offered me a 4 dr sedan for 13,500 in very nice shape. I didnt think I could live with more doors. I should have bought it.
Yours will turn out nice, I'm sure.
