HELP, my truck is stuck in 4 wheel drive!!
i have a 69 1/2 ton chevy, 4 speed/rockwell that is stuck in 4 wheel drive, the shifter shifts to where 2 high should be, but the front drive shaft is turning, and it makes a funny, not quite in, sound. The truck has the stock original lock-outs, that are a little hard to turn, but still seem to function.
i have tried nothing, i figured i would ask here first thanks guys, this one has me baffled. David

I am sure you tried this already, but drive in reverse for a few feet, usually that will pop it out.

Will the t-case shift at all? Will it go into neutral or 4 low? Or is it just stuck in 4 hi all of the time, regardess of where you shift it?

Your shifter may be worn, which could cause it to do that. Look under your truck after you shift to see if the shift rails are moving as far in/out as they should.

Sounds like you might have a hub malfunctioning. One locked and one unlocked can make some funny sounds in the front diff (doesn't do the spider gears any good either).
Probably quickest way to figure this out is to throw a jack under the front axle and check to see if the hubs lock and unlock properly, plus you can see if the TC engages and disengages.
