69 GMC w/ a 465 ???
Hey guys, I have a 69 GMC 4 spd ( 2wheel dr ) but it looks different from my other iron case 465 . It looks like it has an aluminum top cover & it has NP for New Process I guess. Will this bolt up to a 203 transfer case that already has a th 350 bolted up to it or do I need a different adapter ? Thank you in advance !

The only thing I could think of would be to find an adapter from a Dodge or Ford that originally had a NP435 and a NP203, but that combo seems to be pretty hard to find. I am not even sure if the 4x4 tailhousing from the other makes would work. I wish I could help more but there arent many GM's that came with the NP435, and little is known about it. One thing though, if you were to find an adapter and transfer case that would work, the mainshaft of the 2wd NP435 is 35 spline, and NP203's are not 35 spline input. You would need to get the mainshaft from a Dodge or Ford tranny to match, but that would be a lot of work. You could even look for a divorced NP203, but they are like hens teeth. Good luck!

Some 2wds came with the NP435, 4spd. Has closer ratios than the SM465 and the first gear is not real low. A neighbor had a NP435 in a 79 ford the transfer case front output is on the wrong side.

Yes that is a NP435. They actually could be ordered from the factory either as a close ratio or wide ratio, and I believe the wide ratio has a 6.32 1st gear.
Jim brought up a good point that I forgot. The Ford transfer case won't work unless you swap in a different axle, due to it having driver side drop transfer case and front axle. You would have to use Dodge parts, which have the same passenger side drop as GM.
