Hey Glock, nice looking job! The reason I like to keep the cuts straight is because I use part of the removed section to make diamond shaped plates to lay over the joints, including the 90 degree areas top and bottom.

Acklands Grainger for us Canadians Princess Auto also sells them. About $10-$15 each but well worth the money

Can you post some measurements? How much where? Why cut at the place you did? Etc.? I am going to do the same thing shortly. I am skilled enough, and have the equipment to do it. But i always look for a better idea. Thanks
