Egr
Well, what is it? If i disconnect it and plug the hole, will performance and MPG suffer or improve? If i shouldn't disconnect it for performance, should i take it out and clean it or replace it?

if you dont have emissions testing you can put a block off plate on it and be good. but if you have testing, replace it if you think its causing you problems.

Is the EGR giving you problems now?
If you disconntect the egr you may suffer some performance at higher rpms. The egr helps cut down on pinging. I have a brand new EGR and I dont know whats wrong with my setup but it causes the engine to stumble off idle. Most of the time I have the line off and plugged, but I have been trying to get it fixed and right.

I don't think its messed up, i was just curious if it gets clogged or could need replacing after 24 years. Last night i was making out a list of NEEDS for birthday and xmas, and was curious what all emissions stuff my dad eliminated. Now that its light outside, im gonna go look for it. he said he eliminated all the emissions stuff he could figure out. i was just curious as to what it is.
so WHAT DOES IT DO?

EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It allows exhaust to be reburned, thereby reducing emissions. The best way to check the operation of the valve is to put your fingers under it at idle, and gently raise the valve. If the vehicle stumbles, it is working. Likewise, if you cannot get the valve to move, it will need to be replaced.

From what I understand it's better to replace it rather than cleaning it..
