rear veiw mirror

Can someone post a pic of an original set-up ? Also, I need one if anyone knows where to look. If I remember right, they attached to the windsheild frame.

The rear view mirror attaches to the windshield frame on the 69-71 the same as trucks. the 72 has the mirror atttach to the windshield with glue like the trucks. same-same to trucks.

My 69 did not have a mirror when I bought it and the factory sticker about the transfer case was between the visors where you usually see mirror attached. I'm guessing rear view mirrors were not mandated yet and mine was ordered without one. There were not mounting holes beneath the sticker when I removed it for painting.

I am going to install a 69-71 style into my 72. Two main reasons, My kids seam to think my roll cage is a jungle gym and they allways "forget" and kick off my glued on mirror. I keep telling them no but I always get the "I forgot" crap. Second, the valley heat here in central Cali gets the widshield so damn hot the mirror falls off. I am getting sick of glueing that sucker on all the time.
So a few holes later and no more glue!

Does anyone know if the rearview mirror on the '72 was black plastic or chrome? I bought a chrome day/night mirror and I'd like to be "correct". Thanks

They actually are flat black metal. GMs replacement is a black plastic mirror for it. The chrome, or stainless ones are the reproductions. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com
