Lowering Suburban rear

I originally posted this in the Suburban forum, but there doesn't seem to be much traffic over there, so I'll try here.

I was looking at the rear axle and frame of my Sub (77 1/2-ton/454/TH400/12-bolt) and was wondering what method works best for dropping the rear end. The Sub frame has a body mount where I think a c-notch would want to go, but I'm just not sure. Basically, I guess I'm asking if there are methods that *don't* work on a Suburban rear end.

So how did you guys do it? Any problems or tips?

Thanks

Well, I'm not looking to set it on the ground, and I don't want airbags (at least not now), and I don't want to cut through the bed floor. I still use it to tow so I don't want to lose its towing capabilities, and I imagine I will need some helper-type airsprings for that.

Probably a 3/5 or a 4/6 at the most. How much up-travel does the rear end have when the axle is flipped on a 73-87 Suburban?
