Re: What's this part? Found it in the door....
OK I'm confused, was this thread about trying to identify a bracket found in the door or about valve covers?

Them M/T valve covers look real nice on an SBC, however make sure you get the tall ones and polish the top of them:
Yes, that's my engine in the corner of my living room, and no, it don't look as nice no more

Yeah you can probably even pick up a valve cover or a door brace bracket at the local Farm Store's.

Re: What's this part? Found it in the door....
When I said farm store, I was referring to places such as Big R, Farm King, Rural King, Farm and Home, etc, which cater to the agricultural industry but have everything from clothes to tools to, in most cases, a large automotive department. I'm sure that all my fellow "Hicks from the Sticks" know what I'm talking about.

Re: What's this part? Found it in the door....
I have a 1981 Silverodo and while restoring the inside with the door panels off, I found the identical part laying at the bottom of my passenger door. I looked around inside the drivers door and couldnt see anything like it attached or just laying. I have no Idea what its for. I have the stock mirrors and am the second owner of the truck. According to the first owner, who bought the truck new, he has never done any work on it.

Re: What's this part? Found it in the door....
those are pretty nice on there and thats the valve covers i want for my truck but of course on a SB ..in fact your engine is basically what i want mine to look like when all is said and done but im going for the classic round air cleaner as opposed to the triangular one

Re: What's this part? Found it in the door....
yeah, not a big fan on the triangular one. the round ones just seem to offset the whole appearance of an engine better IMO. i also like velocity stacks.
I REALLY like crossram intakes and dual carb setups. the small round air cleaners on dual quads and the oval ones on dual quads are SWEEEEET |

This is a pic I took when I disassembled my door. That's where it goes and it takes that sheet metal screw from the inside of the door. Mirror stiffener.

Re: What's this part? Found it in the door....
they have a tubular one that sets in there for the white or chrome sport mirrors.. its suppoused to stabilize the mirror at like high speeds when the wind causes the mirror to like vibrate and the image isnt so clear
