Re: Rav's 1979 C10 LWB Street Rod
Few more pics of the motor. Clear Coat is done and we started getting the pan and covers on it. Heads are on the bench getting the springs changed and will be on next week. Had to get a different 4 link for the truck so the suspension is on hold until we get the correct parts. Also took a few pics of the intake we are gonna run

Re: Rav's 1979 C10 LWB Street Rod
Just a quick update. Got the motor 90% done and the engine compartment is close to being ready for primer and paint. All of the suspension components should be in on Monday so we can start the 4 link. We made 1 change and decided to buy all tubular A-arms for the front end.

Re: Rav's 1979 C10 LWB Street Rod
Well the comp cams software says 598HP but I am thinking just a hair over 500HP. I could be wrong, but we are planning a trip to a chassis dyno for final tuning and some results.

Re: Rav's 1979 C10 LWB Street Rod
We intentionally installed the 4 link on top of the axle. The installation says it can be done either way. Most are done with the brackets underneath the axle. We were not looking for a scraper just a functional 4 link for the power we are planning. The parts are all from Airbagit. (AIM) Not my choice, but have to use what the student bought. So far so good with their products. But we will have to see how long they hold up.

The truck looks to be coming along very well. That motor looks awesome. And heck, 500 horse...I wouldn't mind half of that right now.

Re: Rav's 1979 C10 LWB Street Rod
Got a few more pics today. finished welding the rear brackets on, finished the drivers side suspension. We couldn't resist the chance to put on the new wheels and tires and sit the truck down on them. So we posed it up a little. The students have all gone crazy and now really want to finish this project because they love the look of this truck. After the pics we ut it back on the lift, blew it all apart, finished grinding everything and painted the frame all black. Tomorrow we spray the firewall.

Re: Rav's 1979 C10 LWB Street Rod
Okay a quick update. We got the panhard bar fabbed up now that the bed is on. Also have all the bags installed and are working on all the air lines. We have also installed the fuel cell and started plumbing the fuel system. AN lines can be a pain but they sure are nice after they are made.

Re: Rav's 1979 C10 LWB Street Rod
Well we are out of school all week because of Mardi Gras, but I did go up to the shop and get my new powder coat machine unpacked and tried it out. I did one of the front spindles. I think it turned out great for my first time.

Re: Rav's 1979 C10 LWB Street Rod
Okay well we are finally getting somewhere. All of the suspension is done and plumbed. The fuel lines are all run, and the motor and trans is in. I got a powder coat machine and a small oven to do things like valve covers and stuff so after playing with it for a week we did the bug catcher, valve covers and the March front support piece in Candy Red powder. I think it turned out wonderful. What do ya think.

Re: Rav's 1979 C10 LWB Street Rod
Yep its hard to slow down a bunch of 15 and 16 year olds.. They like to rush and just get it done, but for the most part they are doing it all right. The kid is about to drop another $4500 in the next few days to buy all the finishing touches. Grill, roll pan, front bumper, Hydratech brake booster. All stainless AN lines on everything, lots of little things to get it all done. That will put the total to just over $25,000 in the last 3 months.
