Re: What did you get done 4/15/2012 the taxman cometh edition
@JRANGER. Thanks! I personally like the look of the stitching also. Took me some time to get it stretched tight and looking good. I would recommend it to the average DIY'er. Just like everything else, it takes patience. I am still waiting on my billet insert to show up so I can finish the other side of the dash. I think it is going to take a little modding to get it to look right since I am replacing the factory trim. I'll post some pics once it is all done.

Your truck looks good Bob. I spent Saturday cleaning out a garage and old apartment at my Mom-in-Laws house. The ladys are getting ready for a garage sale, so the guys helped with all the big stuff.
I did manage to score a neat old tool box out of the deal. Still trying to determine what the logo is.

Re: What did you get done 4/15/2012 the taxman cometh edition
I spent a little time looking at the exhaust leak I had on the truck, between the head and manifold. I had grown tired of driving around and sounding like an old John Deere tractor.
On first inspection, I noticed that I could see a gap between the head and exhaust mainfold. Odd. Got a wrench on the rear-most bolt, and found that it wasn't even finger-tight anymore. That was probably a factor in the leaking. Did snap off one of the bolts in the head, but all the rest came out without any problem. Sandwiched a new gasket in there, which it didn't appear to have anything previously, a new set of manifold bolts, and now the truck just purrs instead of making a bunch of noise. Did have the air injection tube fall apart when we grabbed it, so ended up welding a plug into the exhaust manifold and plugging the hose on that one side. Considered maybe just removing the belt from the air pump, but didn't go there yet. All things considered, I was pleased with the end result. I was surprised how easily the bolts came apart considering they haven't been turned since the truck was built in '85. And I drove around without inner fender for a winter, which sped the rusting process underhood as well. Probably why the bolts had very little head left on them. I don't think we could have done much with a standard socket, since there was so little for it to grab onto. Also fixed the windshield wipers in the '98 Blazer. A little time, and a hot soldering gun was all that took, to fix some cold joints in the wiper control module.

I mounted the tires to my freshly powder coated rally rims. I'm going to put the new trim rings on in the next couple days.

Yea, I'll be down at my daughters somewhere about the end of the week. I'll get more pics and a pic of the RPO label in the glove box for ya. That Bowtie on the front is 6" thick steel from the hull of a WW2 battleship. Paul's Gramps worked in the shipyard during ww2.

Re: What did you get done 4/15/2012 the taxman cometh edition
Haven't really touched the truck, altho I still have to finish the tune. Between work scheduling and getting a metal splinter in my eye, I have not accomplished much in the last two weeks. I did, however, help my gf rebuild the "new" engine for her Honda, and have been working on refinishing a set of wheels for my Honda. Sooo I guess thats something, I'll spare you guys the site of Honda stuff.

Re: What did you get done 4/15/2012 the taxman cometh edition
Installed a highliner i picked up from my brother for 50 bucks (he found it at a junkyard), and enviously looked at his two tach dashes he found ON THE SAME DAY! I like the highliner, the plastic is a bit flimsy and leaves much to be desired but otherwise it really looks nice with black trim and the speakers aren't all that bad. Although i'll definitely be swapping them out.
