secondaries not opening?
while driving my truck tonight, i noticed that my secondaries where not opening, or atleast i couldnt feel them open like i could with my old engine/carb. kickdown cable is hooked up good, and when i floor it, it will kick it down to 1st, but the secondaries will not open.

Can anyone say vac leak?
You need good vac for the secondaries to open (I think the same goes for your carb, not 100% sure though...)

If your choke is not fully opened, the linkage may block them from opening. Look on the passenger side at the point where the secondary throttle shaft exits the carb. Some Q-jets have a little plate that blocks the cross-pin when the choke is not completely open.

had the same problem when I had a 160 degree thermostat. It was what jimfulco is talking about it would never get warm enough for it to open so I bent out of the way. Kind of hurt cold driving but fixed the other problem.
