A setback...
OK, so my original plans were for a carbed small block backed by a T-56 in my 84, to bring everyone up to speed. i'm a newb when it comes to drivetrains and whatnot, so please be patient with me.
Check with a local speed shop about getting a Lakewood bellhousing for my application, on the advice of my dad who is buying/building my motor/tranny for a graduation gift of sorts. Of course, Lakewood doesn't make one, and no plans to in the future. First of all, it is possible to do what i want, correct? What is the purpose of the bellhousing, and why do i need one specifically for my truck? I'm sure i've seen some guys on here with T-56's in their trucks, what are you guys running(sorry i don't know any usernames )? |

I think McLeod makes a modular bellhousing that can accept a T-56. Go here:
http://www.mcleodind.com/cgi-bin/fcc...ostname=MCLEOD & click on #6. The bellhousing houses the clutch, & connects the transmission case to the engine block. The Lakewood & McLeod units are built to contain clutch explosions, thus the common name "scattershield". They are expensive, but necessary in some situations. If you don't need a scattershield, maybe a stock-type bellhousing from a pre-LS1 Camaro V8/T56 would work. Last edited by jimfulco; 04-16-2004 at 06:43 AM. |

D&D performance sells kits for the T56 for just about everything. I know that they sell a kit for Mustangs and Camaros, and I am sure they could get you pointed in the right direction.

D&D or Keisler Automotive each make T56's for retrofit applications.
