Anyone Running Chrome Tailgate Straps?

I am in the process of getting ready to get my 85 painted And i was thinking about how much abuse and little scratches the tailgate straps get

A friend of mines Girlfriends Dad Works At A Plating Shop And Claims To Do Really Good Chrome Work. He would plate them for a case of beer wich is 15$ Bucsh

But what im wondering is how durable it will be compared to just getting them painted The truck is getting painted Black with Base/Clear And Just had the idea of the Straps Being Chromed

Ive never Had Any Experience with chrome stuff like that Something that might get hit or scraped upon.

Anyone got any info.

I would think they would hold up better chromed than painted. Just think of how much abuse bumpers get, and they look great after a few thousand miles, while the front of the hood is all chipped up.

I guess he's talking about the bars that hold the tailgate when it's let down.

Aaah gotcha now! Yeah chrome them. They will last longer. One owrd of caution though. Chrome is addicting! Once you have one piece, you just have to have another....

Since the truck is going to be repainted original color of black i think it would show off chrome .

I can basically get a large qaunity of stuff done for 30 bucks two cases of beer one when i drop it off and one when i pick it up ..

So im thinking the tailgate hardware . Maybe the handle ?

And the radiator cover I dont want to get too carried away but i think a few things would make it look snazzy And i was going to get the cargo light replated. Im acutally adding a cargo light to a truck that never had one.
