I used a block off plate and made a new housing for the head unit:
visible here: http://www.crossfire.homeip.net/twinnie/trucklg5.jpg The thing is not real hard to reach but I have a remote in the center console to control the thing. |

I have a non-working Original am/fm radio in the stock location. And I built a center console for my cd player. I also have my water temp gauge mounted on the console. When I leave the truck I usually cover up the cd player and gauge, so it appears that all I have is the am/fm radio.

I wanted to do the same thing and leave the AM radio in, and then put the new unit under the seat, where I could reach it with my right hand. But Pioneer's remote controls are line-of-sight and I couldn't find a wired remote ffrom Pioneer. It's cool since most new head units play MP3s or WMAs, there isn't the need to access the unit all the time to switch discs.
