85 Chevy Truck Doors on a 74 Chevy Truck
I just picked up a passenger side door for my 74 3/4 ton chevy, will a door from a 85 work on it? They totally looked the same to me. Are there any difference to them?
I noticed places sell doors like 73-76 then 77-81 or something, I dont see no difference on the outside?? Is the door panel on the inside different or someting? Last edited by sh0rtd0gg; 04-27-2004 at 07:45 AM. |

the difference is in how the door panel fits. The door panel on your 74 will not work with a newer door. Conversely, get both door panels from the 85 and they will fit fine. The newer doors have a different regulator, and the door panel style was changed so power windows could be adapted.

So if I understood you right what your saying is that I can use the newer style door panels on my old door? But not older style panels on a newer door?

yep. You will have to make your own screw holes at the bottom of the panel, but it will work.
