Removing Heads

Can I remove the heads off my 350 SBC without having to pull the engine? The heads are pretty close to the firewall, and I don't want to get half way through the job only to find out that I have no access to the rear head bolts. BTW, its a 72 K5, 350 TH tranny, 205 t-case (in case there is a difference in engine location between auto and manual models). Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can. I have done it. It is kind of a pain in the butt, but very doable.

Blazer1970 - Thanks. Good to hear that its possible. I'll take that pain in the butt over the hassle of pulling the engine any day.

If you haven't moved the mounts you should have no problem. This was the first major (this goes to show how easy it is) engine thing I did.
