slammed shocks

i'm gonna buys some "slammed shocks" that some of these company's advertise as a better ride for lowered trucks. my question's are that if i do buy these and the truck has a 4in drop all the way around were do i mount the new smaller/shorter shocks... in the place of the stock ones or do i use a shackle kit in the rear. and second. does anyone run these and if so what brand is best and where did you get it.

Doesth Tech from summit for like 40 each is what a majority of ppl are using. GREAT GREAT shock, i love them.

Yes, if you are not bagged, then they go in the stock location.

Be careful what brand you buy. They are not all the same. The first drop shocks I bought were Belltech Nitro Drops. These things are junk, or were then anyway. The best drop shock I know of are the Doetsch Techs.

Stay away from Toxic and bell tech nitro drop shocks. I have been using KYB "Mono Max" on all the trucks I have been bagging and they work great! Probably one of the better shocks for the money. Doestch are good too. Mount the shock in stock location should work. Is it leaf sprung truck or trailing arm?

it's a 70 shortbed. coils all the way around. i purchased the desotech's from summit but it didn't say which where rear shocks or front shocks or does it matter. i only bought two right now just so i didn't get stuck with 4 front or 4 rear. so how can you tell which is which or does it matter.

The 68 I worked on about 9-10 months ago, the front and rear shocks were the same design. Doesth techs ratings are the same front and back, so if it wouldnt matter which you put it on. (i'm assuming both your front and rear have the double eye type.. bolt on top and bottom, verses a bolt on the bottom with a stud top)
