That's not a factory roof rack. That looks like it is off a Suburban.
This is what a factory and actually it was a Dealer option rack would look like.
http://brochures.slosh.com/ and you can see all the sales stuff for all the years.

Roof rack

Grim-- I hate to do this to such a otherwise well-informed motorhead, but I have to correct you on this one. I think that the picture you posted is a special roof rack that came with the Hickey package. I have an original GM publication titled "Accessories for 1973 Chevrolet Trucks" and here's a picture of the standard roof rack from that publication. Regards--Tommy

I had one like that on my 75. The slats on the bottom hit the roof and rattled something terrible. The carrier and the roof are long gone.

(GARMCo) Tommy-
I'm not sure what happened to the roof rack, im assuming it got thrown away. And I got rid off it because it rattled like (johnboy's). And the rack did look like the one that you posted above. sorry thats one thing i didnt keep. Let me know if you are ever trying to find something else. I Wish i could have helped you.
Do you think u could post a pic. of your blazer, i would like to see it.

That rack I pictured was not exclusive to the Hikey. It was available as a dealer option I believe 75-77. I have only ever seen one and it was not a Hinkey and the roof looked original to the truck. My bet is we are both right. In 75 they started offering the one I showed.

The tire rack on your truck was produced by Valley. It was a dealer option in the late 70's. In the mid to early 70's the hinge pivot was a cast aluminum peice. I had that same rack on my 79. I ordered it local. If you look in tha brocures link I posted the 79 brocure shows that same rack.
