What did you get done? Memorial weekend edition...
I guess since it Memorial Weekend a lot of you are spending time doing things with your family and friends. I hope everyone has a safe holiday weekend. Please take a moment and pay respect to the people that this weekend is about.
Without our past and present military personal, we would not be able to enjoy this holiday weekend in the fashion we choose. In apprecation for the men and women that have served this great country, I dedicate this Memorial Weekend edition of "What did you get done" to you. Thank you... I spent the week getting my 77 ready to go to the Texas Street Machine Nationals in Fredricksburg, Texas. This show has been around for 29 years in Waco, but was forced to move to anther location. It's new home is at the Lady Bird Johnson park in Fredricksburg. All I can say is Wow! what a great place to have a show. The park is awesome. Y'all mark your calender and plan to attend next years event, because t's going to be a killer show. They had over 200 cars/trucks this year. The quality of vehicles was amazing. Bob McClurg the magazine photographer shot so many feature vehicles he was worn out. Look for event coverage in most of the truck magazines. Ok, so the question is "how did I do"? Well I did just fine. I missed out on the top 10 trucks, but for a good reason. There were some "very" nice trucks there. I did pull off an Outstanding Paint award though. I was pretty pumped when they called my name out, then announced that my truck was the one everyone was talking about all weekend. Needless to say I'm still running on high. What did Y'all get done.... TX Street Machine Nats pics

Saturday, I sold my Camaro, and picked up a 77 2wd Blazer. It has had an earlier roof put on, so it is a full convertible. So far, the wife hates it and the daughter and dog love it. It is also lowered, has a decent red (ick!) interior, and seems to drive pretty well. I am stoked, to say the least. I will try to get pics tonight.
Sunday, I had to resume my house painting project. Summer in Texas sucks for doing something like this. Made pretty decent progress, though. One more thing off of the "Honey-do" list .

Friday/Saturday put all new belts on the 82. Been a long time since I did one without the serpentine. Forgot how much of a pain it could be when you have 3 belts to swapp out. Got the windshield washers finally working correctly and fixed a few other wiring probs. Put a new horn in the 96. Feels good to honk again.
Saturday/Sunday - Lots of yard work. Set some posts for the fence around the soon to have new shop. Mowing and dirst hauling again. Today - hauled yet more dirt....planted some grass. Now waiting for my night class to start.

Well, I'm not getting much done on my truck myself, but I sure hope the paint shop is.
I was, however, very privileged to be in Washington DC all last week (got home Saturday), and was able to see a lot of the sights including the new WWII Memorial. With all of the veterans around for the dedication of the new memorial, there was a huge sense of pride and respect all around. If you ever get the chance to go, I would highly recommend it!!! Hopefully I'll have my truck back from the paint shop this week and can post some pics. Mike |

put the Blue Top back in the 84, a buddy had been borrowing it looking for a few tenths of a dB in his SPL car. i also pulled off all the old chrome trim, and unscrewed the nasty bedliner tailgate piece. going after the PB Blaster tomorrow to spray the manifold bolts. the stock 305/350 combo is coming out in the coming weeks. prep work for the LS1/T56 shall start soon
gettin stoked about working on this truck. for the first time, i can see the finished product when i look at my old truck, and it's gonna be so much fun getting it there |

We finished leveling the gravel in the shop and dug the footers for the lift. Hopefully we can pour concrete next week. Also, I put batteries in my flashlight.

Last week I found out my Job of 11 years is on the way out. It will be gone by August. This made me bitter and not in any mood to take customers BS so I took the rest of the week off.
To celibrate my Job Issue My wife and I decided to remodel the Master bath (She started it 4 years ago when I tolder her not to because I had no time so if she planned to do it she was doing it alone. So it sate for 4 years withy no wall paper LOL ) and bedroom. So New vanity, fauset, Ceramic tile floor, paint, 3 new doors, 120ft of baseboard, 50ft of trim for the windows, new bi fold closet doors, plumbing junk, two light fixtures totaling $960 later wer are still camped out in the living room after 5 days LOL. Few more feet of base board and we can move the furnature and be back in the master bed room. Installing toilet tonight and hopefully the vanity. Tomorow we seal the grout. Cant install the bathroom door till the vanity is done because it is butted right against the vanity counter. Then once doors are installed I can paint them. So as we go to the poor house we will have a nice bathroom and bedroom right up to forclosure! Hahaha I have options just pisses me off. Realized just what an idiot the builder of my house was on this project.

I had ankle surgery on the 24th. I had ligament(s) shortened and had some drilling done in the joint to fix damage caused by a bone chip. I can't put any pressure at all on my left leg for 6 weeks, so I have been hobbling around with a walker since the 24th. I'm hoping to transition to crutches soon so that I can use my hands when I stop moving. This sucks.
As you might have guessed, I have done absolutely nothing to the truck, or anything else for that matter. I can't even fix myself a glass of water and carry it back to the bed because it takes both hands to use the walker. Five more weeks to go... Slonaker |
